Czech Bike Tour: Andalucia
Czech Bike Tour: Andalucia

Join us for the experience of your life! Visit the magnificent Andalucía, its three major jewels: the cities of Seville with its Cathedral, Córdoba with its Mezquita, and Granada with the Alhambra Palace, and its beautiful and romantic countryside with several National Parks. Ride through orchards, olive groves, sunflower fields, and cork trees plantations, pedal on its most famous Vía Verde (Green Road) over former railroad viaducts and through tunnels, view the gorgeous peaks of the Sierra Nevada and other mountain ranges, and spend a night in a cave hotel in Guadix. See a Flamenco performance and acquaint yourself with the production of olive oil. Last but not least, try some of the best tapas in the country and local speciality drinks such as Sangria and Vino de Verano (Summer Wine). You will see a country where Jews, Muslims, and Christians lived together in relative peace and tolerance. This cohesion bore many fruits and architectural gems. You will experience a different way of life with the renowned Spanish siestas, laid back attitude, lively cities, tapas, and Spanish hospitality. You will experience the best of the Moorish and Christian culture, especially in architecture. We believe that after this trip, Spain, and particularly Andalucía, will remain in your hearts forever and that you will want to return to this country that has so much to offer visitors of all interests. We strongly recommend that you extend your stay in Seville in the beginning of the trip and in Granada in the end of the trip by at least one day in each town.

Czech Bike Tour: Prague to Budapest via Vienna and Bratislava
Czech Bike Tour: Prague to Budapest via Vienna and Bratislava

Join us for an odyssey on two wheels to experience four countries - the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary - and their capitals, the jewels of the former Austrian-Hungarian Empire - Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest. We start our cycling adventure exploring the beautiful region of Southern Bohemia and Moravia - full of forests, meadows, and golden farmland. There are also charming and fairy-like preserved medieval towns, Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance cathedrals, churches, and monasteries, dreamlike castles, chateaux, and palaces. In Moravia, the main wine region of the country, we cycle past romantic vineyards and orchards on a roads lined with fruit trees. Crossing the border into Austria, we meander through fertile vineyards of the renowned Weinvertel wine region. We then head south on the Greenways of the Leiserberge towards the Danube River and visit beautiful Vienna. Turning eastward along the Danube we cross the Slovak border into Bratislava, another major city on our route with its overlooked but beautiful historical center. We follow the Danube River into Hungary where we spend two nights. The first is in the former royal seat of Esztergom and the second, a perfect ending to our adventure, in the celebrated capital Budapest, which became the main Hungarian city after Esztergom. We strongly recommend that you arrive in Prague a few days before the tour in order to explore this beautiful city. There is plenty of accommodation available in Prague but for those interested we can reserve a room for you at Pension Alpin, where we stay the first day of our tour. The pension is conveniently located and is within walking distance of the historical center of Prague, and the staff speak English and are very bike-friendly.

Cooking in Barcelona
Cooking in Barcelona

The program combines hands-on cooking lessons with visits and tastings at carefully selected markets and vineyards, plus, you’ll discover simple local hideaways and top Barcelona restaurants. We share with our guests an interest in authenticity and sustainability, and we always find seasonal delicacies, festivals, or customs to learn about. Workshops vary each day, exploring Catalan food and wine in depth. You’ll learn techniques favored by local chefs and create delicious three-course meals. But you’ll also spend time outside the kitchen touring markets and tasting at specialty shops. This city’s shopkeepers fanatically curate superb collections of everything from cava, chocolates, and dried fruits to cheeses, ibérico hams, and salt cod. There’s plenty of tradition to be absorbed, but you’ll also enjoy what Barcelona’s most innovative chefs are doing. Our menus are always enjoyed with wine, and participants will learn about the excellent and still somewhat undiscovered wines produced in Spain. You’ll taste with local experts and also make a day trip to vineyards to see how cava is made and explore the impressive reds being produced by a younger generation of winemakers who are having great success with their biodynamic wines. The program is limited to 14 participants. The course begins on Sunday evening and ends the following Friday morning. The course fee of $2,995 covers five workshop days, including cooking classes, tastings and tours, three lunches, and three dinners. The fee also includes transportation and guiding on our wine country excursion. It does not include accommodation; we assist enrolled participants in selecting the best Barcelona hotels and apartments that suit their style and budgets.

Cooking in Catalonia
Cooking in Catalonia

The program combines hands-on cooking lessons with visits to markets, artisans’ workshops, and a few truly great restaurants. We share with our guests an interest in authenticity and sustainability, and we always find seasonal delicacies, festivals, or customs to learn about. You’ll stay in a luxurious villa in the Catalan countryside, dating to the 14th C and stylishly restored as a boutique inn. Each day explores a different aspect of this food-loving region, including hidden places that are still a bit off the beaten path. Depending on the time of year, you’ll find yourself gathering mushrooms, or sailing the Mediterranean, visiting a biodynamic winery, a cheese festival, or an olive mill. Our instructor here is chef Viçens Fajardo, a member of Joves Cuiners, one of Catalonia’s most innovative culinary groups. His kitchen and cooking combine tradition with modern elegance. Wine tastings with sommelier Monica Ferré are a treat, as she loves to show off Catalonia’s range of styles from sparkling cavas to the rich reds of the Priorat. The program is limited to 14 participants. The course begins with dinner at the villa on Monday evening and ends after breakfast the following Saturday. The course fee of $3,250 includes accommodations throughout in a luxurious country villa hotel. It covers daily classes and tastings, visits to markets and with local artisans, three lunches and three dinners, always paired with wines. It does not include transportation – you will need a rental car, or we can help you arrange for a driver. We think you’ll appreciate having your own transportation for exploring the region during your free time.
