Zibalianja Safari Camp
Zibalianja Safari Camp

Situated on a palm island on the edge of Botswana's northern Linyanti Swamps, close by the lagoon after which the camp is named, Zibalianja Camp is a classic safari camp accommodating a maximum of just 6 persons in twin bed Meru style tents with en-suite facilities. Zibalianja Camp offers spectacular game viewing by 4x4 custom viewing vehicles with a professional guide. You are likely to see elephants, lions, cheetahs, possibly a leopard, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyaenas, sables, wilddogs, lechwes, and plains game. Night drives produce an abundance of nocturnal species. Unbelievable birdlife and varied vegetation, which is best viewed in the summer between October and April. Walking Safaris are also offered out of Zibalianja Camp. A special area has been set aside in the Selinda Reserve especially for walking safaris. The area is located along the Selinda Spillway, a water course linking Botswana's Okavango Delta to the Linyanti Swamps. The walks take you along time-worn trails, through riparian forest and open plains. Typically, guests undertaking walking safaris, commence their safari at Zibalianja, then break away onto the walk, which ends up three days later, at Selinda Camp for the last night. In total, this is usually a five day safari. Zibalianja Camp is also ideal for a small group or family seeking privacy and personalised service.

Savuti Permanent Tented Camp
Savuti Permanent Tented Camp

Savuti Camp is situated in the Linyanti Reserve along the Savuti Channel in northern Botswana. The camp is built about 17 kilometres "downstream" from the source of the Savuti. The channel stopped flowing in 1980 and what was a Hippo-filled river, is now wide, open grasslands. Savuti Camp is a comfortable camp providing accommodation in 7 large walk-in tented rooms with en-suite facilities. Five of the bathrooms are within the tents and two tents have bathrooms with wonderful open fronts facing onto the Savuti Channel. Each room is raised off the ground on wooden decks. The camp has a thatched dining area, pub and plunge pool, all on raised wooden decks. There is a waterhole close to camp and this attracts large numbers of animals that guests can view from the camp. Activities include game drives in open 4x4 Land Rovers, hides, night drives and walks with an armed guard. Game in the area includes all of Botswana's big game, and is one of the best areas in the country to see predators. There are also good concentrations of plains game in the area.

Savute Elephant Camp
Savute Elephant Camp

Savute Elephant Camp is dramatically different from other camps (Khwai River Lodge and Eagle Island Camp). It is located on the Savute Channel in Chobe National Park, which is in the rugged, semi-arid wilderness region of far northern Botswana. It is a tented camp, recently under thatch, in true African style. The area is known for its exciting game viewing and birding. This area also presents you with the rare opportunity to view rock paintings drawn by the early Bushmen, who once inhabited the region. As this camp is situated in the Chobe National Park, park regulations prohibit night drives and walking. Savute personifies the eternal contrast of Africa. The other two camps celebrate water and lush vegetation, Savute is an objective lesson in aridity. Rain in this dry place is rare and water is precious. Situated on the Savute Channel, which is an eccentric waterway that fluctuates between being bone-dry or flooding, the whole ethos of Savute Elephant Camp is commiserate with its inhabitants and environment, although the camp has not seen water flowing in the channel since 1983. You find yourself in harmony with a unique timeless place, removed from city life. In Savute, you realize that precious little has changed on these dry plains since time began. And the realization dawns that you are fortunate and privileged to be in one of the last corners of the planet governed by nature. Savute offers 12 twin-bedded luxury canvas tents, recently placed under thatch, that are perfectly suited to the desert air and feature lavishly appointed en-suite bathrooms and dressing areas. The tents also have private viewing decks and comfortable outdoor lounges overlooking the Channel. Facilities include: 'His and hers' vanity unit, private viewing decks, electric heaters, air conditioning, hair dryers, electric overhead fan (24 hour use), 110v/220v plugs for electric razor, facilities for charging video cameras, and 24-hour DC battery lighting in the guest rooms.

Savuti Safari Lodge
Savuti Safari Lodge

The world acclaimed game viewing of Savute is an experience not to be missed. * Ideally positioned on the banks of the Stolen River * Twelve stylishly furnished twin bedded Safari suites * Cocktail bar available * See bull Elephants pass by while game driving The summer rains bring a feast for Lion, Hyena and Cheetah as thousands of migrating Zebra and Wildebeest assemble in a chaotic pattern on the marshes. Savute pulses to a timeless rhythm, melodies of mysterious wet and dry cycle that mould its landscape and determines its inhabitants. For the moment Savuti is dry. A winding fossil channel vanishes into the sweeping expanse of a relic marsh, where the spectacular fortress of the Gubatsa Hills relieves Savuti's extraordinarily flat countryside. Savute Safari Lodge peers out from ancient Camelthorn trees on the shore of the channel. The cocktail bar summons you with a cold drink on a hot Savute day, while a fireplace turns the lounge into a cosy refuge on winter nights. A handful of small pans sustain Savute's thousands of animals with a permanent, yet fragile water source. On an open vehicle game drive, conducted by a professional guide, droves of bull Elephants shuffle past you towards the water and talk about you in gentle reassuring rumbles. Exclusive accommodation provides twelve stylishly furnished twin bedded Safari Suites for a maximum of 24 guests. The unique design of the suites with their spacious interior and large glass sliding doors sets Savute Safari Lodge apart from typical safari accommodation. Private viewing decks and en suite facilities combine luxury and comfort with a classic wilderness experience. At the end of the day admire the sunset from the Savute Safari lodge's upstairs viewing deck and watch Wild Dog hunt in the channel where Crocodiles once swam. After silver service dinners in the elegant dining room, retire to your safari suite and let the gentle Scops Owl and the faraway roar of Lions lull you to sleep.

House Boat Safari on the Chobe River
House Boat Safari on the Chobe River

Most of my clients spend 2N in Chobe National Park, staying at one of the game lodges, where you do a morning game drive and evening sunset river cruise. They then move on to the next Safari camp, or onto Victoria Falls, depending which direction they started from. On this houseboat, you are on Safari all the day long, the boat cruises, between 2 different points, up and down the river, within the Chobe National Park. There is a map at the bottom of the page of the area. If you like, we can add in a morning game drive on the day of departure. Should you wish to choose this excursion, we can ask the safari company to pick you up from Kasane river border post (immigration) at 08h00 and transfer them back to Kasane at 11h30, however we need a minimum of four guests. Usually the inter-Safari camp flights do not leave until mid morning, so this is a nice add on. We can also obtain a special rate just for 2 people travelling. This type of experience offers a different perpsective on seeing Chobe. The causual intimate atmosphere, being in nature on Safari all day long, as you can view game as you slowly drift the river, being able to get up early for a Sunrise over the river, staying up to watch the sun go down, as as well as the other excursions offerred adds a different dimension to your Safari experience. Game viewing by boat into the Chobe National Park is a good experience; huge herds of elephants come down to drink together with an extensive array of other game such as buffalo, giraffe, leopard, lion, kudu, waterbuck, puku, lechwe, impala and baboons. The evening boat trip provides the guest with the experience of witnessing a true African sunset, while being surrounded by herds of elephant and sipping on a cold sundowner. Mekoros (dugout canoes) can drift into the small islands, which exist in the Chobe River and form part of the rapid system. Guided walks can be arranged on Impalila Island and on the Namibian mainland.

Small Group African Tours
Small Group African Tours

We will be leading small group escorted tours to South Africa, including: Victoria Falls, Zambia, Mozambique, and Botswana. These tours will be led by us and will include other specialized guides that will be joining us for different portions of the trip. The maximum size of these trips will be 12 maximum. This number of participants will ensure a very personalized service orientated experience. As well, for some of the smaller rural areas and Safari camps, this number will be easier to obtain space for, so we can all stay together. I place a high emphasis on personal, casual, relaxed travel, having fun, and creating connections and experiences that will last for a lifetime. This is a not an impersonal mass tourism tour, with 30 odd other folks, a glossy brochure tour, that some local Travel agent is selling but has no education or interest in the country. I grew up in South Africa, travel back at least once a year, have been a South Africa Tourism Destination specialist for a long time, I love what I do, am very proud of what this country has accomplished and has to offer. The itineraries of these trips will be to give the participants an expanded and deeper experience of South Africa, and Southern Africa. The general theme will be to keep a balance between the generally most requested popular areas: Cape Town, Cape Winelands, Safaris, during whale watching season , we will spend time in Hermanus, Johannesburg, Apartheid Museum, and the more unexplored lesser known areas of this region. Such areas will be focused on culture, people, local traditions and the scenery natural beauty of these areas. A nice balance between urban and rural, a complete insight into this unique and vibrant country. This offers you the opportunity, not mandatory, for charity kindness as some the places we will visit, would benefit from school supplies, uniforms, soccer balls, soccer uniforms, basic first aid kits, and reading books for rural libraries, etc.

The Tribe and Cultures Safari
The Tribe and Cultures Safari

Benson Siyawareva is one of our top guides. He manages one of our Zimbabwe camps and is recognized as one of the region's best naturalists. On this 13 day safari, he hosts the group through the many different cultures of Southern Africa. We start off just north of Johannesburg at the "Cradle of Mankind" where it is thought that modern man had his humble early beginnings millions of years ago. We contrast this with a visit to Soweto, the vibrant "city within a city" in Johannesburg for a taste of modern day township life. We then head for Namibia and visit three contrasting tribes and cultures - the Herero, the "Riemvasmakers" and the nomadic Himba. From Namibia, we travel to the northern reaches of the Okavango and meet with the BaYei and Batawana who have lived in and around the Okavango for centuries. We then travel down to the Kalahari for hands-on San/Bushman experiences. The safari finishes in Benson's home country where he will guide the group in his natural habitats and with his people.
