Private Wine Tour
Private Wine Tour

Our Private Winelands tour is a good introductory tour for sight-seeing in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Boschendal with visits to small select wine estates for a cellar tour & wine-tasting. We strongly recommend that you ask for a deluxe lunch with this tour. We usually visit Haute Cabriere, le Petite Ferme or Monneaux restaurants. However some clients prefer to have a greater emphasis on wine-tasting and buying. In these cases we book our Private Wine Tour… Private Wine Tour: You are collected by your private guide (who holds a Cape Masters Wine Certificate) for your private wine tour. A combination of the favorable effects of the two major ocean currents meeting off the Cape makes the climate in the Cape Winelands perfect for wine-making. The stunning backdrop of the Hottentots Holland mountains, the white gabled Cape Dutch Homesteads & the oak-lined streets and lanes all blend together to give the Winelands a charm that will not be quickly forgotten. Your first stop is historic Vergelegen wine estate where we debate award-winning André van Rensburg’s claim that he has “the best red wine area in South Africa”. A tour of the state-of-the-art wine cellars and Vergelegen homestead is followed by wine tasting. You continue to Stellenbosch, a historic university city with charming Cape Dutch architecture amidst oak-lined streets, for a walking tour. You meander along the unspoilt Dorp Street and visit the Village museum - preserved houses which yield a fascinating insight into the lives of the early settlers. After lunch at Delaire wine estate with its magnificent views over the valley, you have a private tasting of the fine white wines of Thelema at the top of the Helshoogte Pass or a tasting of wine and chocolates at the Waterford Estate, home to the wines of Kevin Arnold. You end the afternoon at Clos Cabriere for a tasting of their fine Cap Classique (champagne) wine and an optional cellar tour before returning to Cape Town or Franschhoek. Private full day tour available Monday to Friday.

Cape Town Private Olive and Vine Tour
Cape Town Private Olive and Vine Tour

It’s a little known fact that South African olive oil has once again walked off as winner of the most prestigious olive oil awards in Italy. This tour is perfect if you have a little bit more time to get to know and savour the more off the beaten track vineyards, villages and farms of the Cape. One of our tours visits the Cape’s oldest wine region. Spend some time at the award-winning Morgenster wine estate for an olive oil, olive and wine tasting. Morgenster is rated as one of the top olive oil estates in the world and the tour is a little gem. This is followed by a visit to Vergelegen, one of the oldest Cape Dutch homesteads, for a walk in their beautiful gardens, a visit to the homestead and a taste of their award winning wines. An optional extra is to pre-book for a fascinating tour of their spectacular gravity fed cellar. The wine and olive-tasting is complemented by a short historical tour of Stellenbosch – the second oldest town in South Africa and certainly one of the most beautiful and of course a gourmet lunch at a top Winelands restaurant. An alternative tour visits a stunning off-the-beaten track wine region, the Darling and Riebeeck Valley area where you enjoy the warm country hospitality of the local people. This small secluded valley is mad about olives and olive oil and you participate in two olive and olive oil tastings as well as wine and port tasting at the famous Allesverloren Wine estate. This is all washed down with a delicious and relaxed country lunch.
