The entire area around the site of Petra offers dramatic and varied landscapes. The canyons and high places are a maze of wind-sculptured rocks, tiny meandering tracks and secluded valleys, where the only sound is the tinkling of goat bells or the reedy notes of a shepherd’s flute. It is, in effect, an adventurer’s playground. This is a great place for walking, trekking, horseback riding and off-road cycling.

We drive in a Jeep Safari around Jordan where we explore the sandstone landscapes of Wadi Rum and spend a whole day in the fabulous city of Petra. We also visit the desert castles, black desert, Dana village, and the sand hills in Wadi Araba, Amman and Jerash – a spectacular site dating from 70AD.

We ride horses from the rose-red city of Petra, and other highlights of the Jordanian culture and history, to the amazing landscape of Namala. We ride down to the magnificent desert of Wadi Araba, and ride through a spectacular red sandstone siq, whose lower reaches are garnished by hanging gardens. We expect you to be an experienced horseman, used to riding outdoors. The horses are mainly full-bred Arabic horses. The tour will be guided by expert Bedouin guides, who are familiar with the trek since childhood. We will cover approximately thirty to thirty five kilometers daily, depending on the territory.

This tour will be in the Wadi Araba desert and Wadi Rum desert. Through these two destinations we will visit the most important destination in Jordan: Petra. Wadi Arabah begins at the southern end of the Dead Sea and extends southward for 112 miles to the Gulf of Aqabah. Along the length of the centre of Wadi Araba runs the boundary between the modern states of Israel and Jordan. It is an arid depression from six to twelve miles wide -- in reality a continuation of the Great Rift Valley. This section has been known from ancient Biblical times as the Arabah. Beginning at 1292ft below sea level, the valley gradually ascends as it goes southward for 67 miles to a watershed, which rises 660ft above sea level. From here it quickly descends until 45 miles further southward it reaches the Gulf of Aqabah at Ezion Geber. Surface explorations along with minor digs carried on by Doctor Nelson Glueck revealed a number of ruined villages and many copper and silver mines from which ore was dug in the time of Solomon (900-1000 B.C.) and during the time of the Nabateans (300 BC to AD 100).
