This 5-night 6-day trail allows you to walk, swim and explore the coastline during the day and spend every night in comfort at one of the Wild Coast Hotels, where you can enjoy the wonderful cuisine and warm hospitality. The Trail covers a distance of about 55km. The trail is adaptable and can be extended or shortened to suit your requirements. For instance try a 6-night trail, spend an additional night at any of the 5 resorts and use the extra day to put your feet up and enjoy the facilities available. The Trail itself offers some interesting and challenging aspects with river crossings, hiking over headlands, beach walking and crossing the Kei River on a pontoon. As the daily distances are very average and the terrain relatively easy, no great fitness is required . Should you wish to spend the night prior to your trail or on completion in East London, we can offer you accommodation at the Meander Inn, a B&B especially designed to accommodate the hiking groups on the night before their trail. We are proud to introduce an exciting new 5 night 4 day hiking trail covering some of the most spectacular natural wonders to be seen along South Africa's wild coast. Hikers will be based at the beautifully revamped Mbotyi River Lodge, in the heart of the Pondoland Park, from where the 4 days of adventurous hiking start and return. Mbotyi River Lodge is situated 27 km's from Lusikisiki and is easily accessible by car. There is an excellent 1000m grass runway at Magwa, 7 km from the lodge. Hikers stay at one resort, this is a self drive package. I The hike entails 2 coastal and 2 inland trails through dense indigenous forests, along rugged cliff tops, crossing sandy bays and through rural and friendly settlements, to view a few of the most breathtaking natural features the wild coast has to offer.
