Susan G. (currently lives here; has lived here for Over 10 years):
"We chose well to retire here!"
We lived in NJ for nearly all of our adult lives and when my knees were diagnosed with osteoarthritis in 1979 and subsequently operated on several times we decided that the damp cold winters in Jersey were not going to be in our futures much longer. Although we loved the ethnic diversity of Englewood and its close proximity to NY, we decided to make a lifestyle change while we were young enough to become an integral part of the neighborhood and the working community. We ran a business here in Mesa [AZ is a friend of small business] for about 10 years, built a lovely home in Las Sendas [07208] and we're now enjoying our lovely community at the Trail's Head Club and with the Retirees organization of Las Sendas. Most recently Mesa has comleted the Mesa Arts Center, complete with three theaters and many well equipped studois for the performing arts and the visual arts as well. I'm currently taking a glass class and a photo-real oil painting class there. The list of performances is just too long to even attempt, and we have never been disappointed. Downtown Mesa has bronze statues on every corner of every block and is working hard at re-energizing the walking areas with cafes and restaurants. Yes, the summers are hot but most of us switch to early morning errands and lazy pool and barbeques in the afternoons. No matter where you are locating from, you are sure to find neighbors from all the large cold cities of the US!
