Ratings and reviews of Ashland

gravypro (lived here for Under 5 years but moved):

"Gorgeous, expensive, near perfect town"

Ashland is a picture perfect community with lovely houses and pride of ownership. It's lush and green. Though Ashland has less overcast days than towns further north such as Corvallis, Eugene, and Portland, half of the year is still largely overcast. Spring, most of summer, and early fall are pretty blissful. For a small town, it has an excellent array of restaurants and shops. It's a very walkable, liberal, artsy place with a Shakespeare Festival that runs about 7 months of the year.

What it is sorely missing is a professional working class as there are few job opportunities. Ashland primarily consists of young undergraduates who come and go, tourists, retirees, medical practitioners, service industry employees, and all sorts of alternative healers and psychics. It is a peaceful, odd, and enchanting place. I would return in a heartbeat if I had the funds to afford the housing.
