General Information about Santa Clara

Santa Clara is a village in Grant County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 3,944 at the 2000 census. Santa Clara, which has experienced decent growth in recent years, is now a suburb of metropolitan Silver City. Santa Clara was formerly known as Central, New Mexico and the name change occurred sometime around 1990. A state map of New Mexico dated "copyright 1990" shows the present Santa Clara as "Central" between Bayard and Silver City.
