Im actually asking for my mom. Here's the deal.....she and my dad were married, then divorced, then remarried. They are now divorced. Their first marriage was about 5-6 years, then divorced. Remarried a short time after. This marriage was 9 years. She is wanting to apply for ss benefits from my dad. I understand they must have been married 10 years in order for either one of them to qualify. Both marriages were less than 10 years. Does the law mean "10 CONSECUTIVE" years? Whew...Hope I didnt confuse u!
