I know that airline and hotel bargains are all around, but I’d like to hear from other Boomers about the best family travel bargains they’ve discovered.

My husband and I have booked a 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean on Holland America. The prices are fantastic right now - and by booking a cruise you know exactly how much the trip will cost. Plus they are giving room upgrades, so we can stay in an outside cabin at a reduced rate. Also, my daughter and son-in-law are taking the kids to Disney. They are offering great discounts now on hotels and park tickets.

Whatever kind of trip you are looking for you can find discounts now... at the very least you should be able to get a free upgrade or free breakfast...but free nights and tickets to local attractions are also posible, but you have to ask the resort or cruise line for the extra perks. Also, if you can be spontaneous there are amazing last-minute deals at resorts and on cruises. Check out shermanstravel.com. They specifically focus on deals on hotels, vacation packages, cruises, etc. A great resource...

i saw a great deal recently that Disney Cruises are offering, Kids 12 and under are able to go on the cruise for 50% off. The deal is until May 14 I believe but double check to make sure.

there are also some pretty good deals out there for spring skiing... Streambot, Colorado has Kids Ski Free for kids who are 12 and under

I have two resources for family travel. Your triple A membership will help you save at a number of theme parks, including Universal Studios, Disney, Busch Gardens and Sea World. It also offers discounts on cruises, hotels, restaurants and rental cars. Plus, if you're traveling by car, their repair service is a must-have. To get the most out of your family vacation go to alltravelingkidsfamilyvacations.com. They have information about fun things to do in each state, as well as international vacations, cruises and resorts. You can also print out a number of travel and car games for the kids (and grandkids) ... especially helpful when they start asking "Are we there yet?"
