The best active travel site for Boomers that I know about is ElderTrek. I took ElderTrek's "Hidden Treasures of South America" trip and had an unbelievable time. We went to Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Bolivia. We saw areas other tourists would never visit - including active volcanos, historic ruins, wine regions and remote villages. The guides were fantastic, very familiar with the area. Everything was included, so we knew the price up front - no surprises. ElderTrek caters to boomers (50+) and the groups are small, (no more than 16 people) so you get very personal attention and don't feel like you are being herded around with a crowd. They offer a great variety of trips, they pretty much go everywhere. Some trips include more action than others - hiking, cycling, rafting, sailing, diving, etc. You can search by region, type of adventure or how much action you are looking for. I will definitely tour with them again.
I strongly suggest you check out 50plusexpeditions.com. I love cycling and they have a trip I'm looking into - Cycling through the Danube. It's about 220 miles over 8 days and you stay at top rated hotels and dine in first-class restaurants. I've read great reviews about this company. They also have a lot of other cool adventure trips, on every continent.
I'm sure you'll find something you like.
Hello, I have just had the most fantastic 3 week tour of Eastern Turkey with Alkans Tours, www.easternturkeytour.org. Sabahattin, our guide, made sure that our tour included all the extras that we requested prior to booking and whilst on holiday, for example taking tea with bee keepers, changing the tour plan to visit Gobekli Tepe, the oldest (nearly 13,000 years) temple in the world to date. We met the most fabulous local people, we have been included in celebrations, tasted wonderfully fresh and filling food, stayed at interesting and sometimes hilarious hotels, all clean. Seen sights that have inspired me to want to visit Eastern Turkey again and I will definitely go with Alkans Tours.

My wife and I are very active and are looking for trip ideas or companies that specialize in active vacations. We plan to go on our own, but would consider traveling with other active boomers.
