I am interested in finding an affordable health insurance option for my family. I am looking for full coverage, including dental and a good prescription plan. Please let me know if you have found such a policy... also if you know of good sites that compare plans from different insurers.

We are self-employed and have found "affordable and health insurance" to be mutually exclusive. That being said, we've been using a separate dental plan: Dental Call www.dentalcall.com/ to help defry the costs. They have arrangements with many respected dentists that accept a reduced rate for all services. The premium is very cheap, even for families.

    Hello SkyBlue,

I was recently in the same situation you are in now, looking for health insurance. I found a number of places online that could get you an insurance quote from many of the major (and some not so major) insurance companies. This was EXTREMELY helpful in picking the right plan for myself and my family.

I endedup here and found a great quote. You just have to fill out a few VERY quick questions:

    Hope this helps!

I think that one major problem with some of the individual health insurance sites is their lack of information on the difference from one plan to another. You see examples of cheap health insurance plans, but they may have major limits and then you may have others that are full major medical insurance plans. We work with brokers at http://www.nationalinsurancebrokers.com which allows you someone who can help explain the differences of one plan to another.

You might look into a Health Savings Account (HSA). You combine the HSA, which you set up at a local bank, with a high-deductible health insurance policy. The HSA builds tax-free and you use it for your health care costs, which can be somewhat high due to the high deductible on the policy. This minimizes your health care premiums, and enables you to cover your costs tax-free. http://www.ustreas.gov/offices/public-affairs/hsa/

I agree with rwatman. A high deductible plan with an HSA is a great option for someone who does not use a lot of health services. You can save up to 70% on prescriptions at www.saveonmeds.biz and www.freefamilyrxcard.com. Both great companies with excellent customer service; their mine.

A Good Medicare supplement plan covers a number of medical issues, however, there are particular things such as prescriptions that a Medicare recipient must deal with as well.

Private health insurance rates take into account many factors including age, gender, medical conditions etc. Besides, if individuals maintain good health or improve on their health, they can also reduce on their private health insurance rates. It also differs depending on the difference in medical expense in different areas. To acquire more knowledge, please contact http://www.tarifrechnerpkv.de/

Great info on here, and thanks to all the other comment posts as well. I'll add my two cents in here in case others are still looking for info - there's a good article here - http://simpledebtfreefinance.com/affordable-health-insurance-options/ that also talks about health insurance options :)
