Robert B. Friedland, Ph.D. has devoted nearly 30 years helping people with income security issues. Most of this time was spent focused on the public policies that affect pensions, health care, long-term care, and the Social Security Act (Social Security, Disability Insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid).

Robert had a long standing interest in saving and investing having in fact done his doctoral dissertation on the impact of Social Security and pensions on savings behavior. He decided to apply his skills and interest in working with people directly and launched Friedland Financial Planning in 2005.

Robert earned a Ph.D. in Economics and has held key positions at the State of Maryland Medicaid program, the Employee Benefit Research Institute, and AARP. In 1994, Friedland founded the National Academy on an Aging Society, which later became the Center on an Aging Society when it moved into Georgetown University.

Robert continues to conduct research and teach health economics, business statistics and research methods at Georgetown University.

Robert is Chair of the Board of the National Academy for State Health Policy, a Commissioner on the American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging, an adviser for the Health Assistance Partnership, and on the editorial board of Aging Today.

Compensation and Fee Structures:

A fixed fee per engagement. There are no minimums of any type.

The fee is based on the anticipated amount of time needed to help you meet the goals of the engagement.

The engagement can be one-time to answer a few important questions; a comprehensive financial plan, or ongoing investment advice and portfolio management.

The fee is determined in advance so that you know what the cost will be.
